Hand Made Clay Vessels

I create my pieces using either altered wheel thrown forms as a starting point as well as hand-built forms from rolled slabs or coiling using either porcelain or stoneware clay. My sculptural pieces tend to be contemplative in nature, playing on the vessel form, but not always concerned with the functional aspect and often closing up the form completely. The glazes or firing techniques I use are intended to enhance the lines and form of a piece without having to compete with an applied decoration. I enjoy playing with the idea of asymmetry in my work as well as playing with groups and the relationship of each piece to each other and the space created between them.
