The sights of Vermont are what get me excited about painting. I see the breathtaking mountains and the sky and I have a great appreciation for them. It might be in an exceptional moment that I witness what I want to capture. Sometimes it's seen driving in a car and it lingers in my memory or it might be discovered while contemplating on the water's edge.
Rather than creating just the visual reality of the landscape, I want to create the emotional impact of the landscape on the senses. The spontaneity of the marks, drips, and accidents on the canvas further my quest to create the type of landscape that I want the viewer to embrace and carry away.
