Rich DeTrano Woodturner

Woodworking has been my profession since 1981. I use found local wood, trees that have been removed by others, as the source of my materials. I attempt to highlight the natural features of he wood including its imperfections and peculiarities. It is the uniformity of the annual rings, the irregularities of a burl's grain pattern and bark inclusions that are the true beauty of my work. My intention is to create a form that will allow nature's beauty to be seen and enjoyed.

My work was selected by the Pinellas County Arts Council as a gift for the Vice President Al Gore in 1996.
