Two Potters: Becca and Nathan Webb
Becca and Nathan Webb are husband and wife potters living on an old homestead in central Vermont with their daughter, a very energetic dog, and a few chickens. Near their farmhouse is a large wood-fired kiln of their own design that they built from 2009 to 2012, and a modified timber frame studio that they completed in 2013.
Becca and Nathan's bowls, plates, mugs, cups, butter keepers, flower bowls, and mason jars are fired over a 4-day period, during which the kiln is stoked with scrap slab wood around the clock to a temperature of 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. The ash from the burning wood makes a natural glaze on the pottery. The kiln then cools for a week before the 800+ pieces that fill the two chambers, can be unloaded.
